For whatever reason it does seem a little harder for women to break through in the movies in the same way that men have. I sort of think it’s because the women who would go see those movies are stuck at home raising kids. There has always been a lot of very strong female comedians around. TV has always been kinder to women.

There are a lot of roles that are OK, but there’s little that’s really good, especially for someone my age. Sometimes you find out that something you really liked is going to someone 10 years younger. I find it heartening that Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock have been able to find and create amazing projects.

I went for the premiere of the fifth film, but other than that, I’d never really gone there before. People seem to have a very bizarre perception of me – that I’m a Hollywood actor. I don’t think of myself that way. When I was out there and telling people it was pretty much my first trip, jaws just hit the floor. They were looking at me like I had two heads.

People always ask me whose career I admire and I always answer with men. Which is not to say that there aren’t incredible women in this business, but I feel like men are still given much better opportunities,

It’s unfortunate that we focus on that but it’s just a reality. So I have to be in shape. I have to get teams of hair and makeup people to spend two hours to make me look natural.

I don't think I can move out of India as it makes me feel very lonely. Call me a brat, but its just that I am so stuck with the comforts in my country that I can't see myself going to Hollywood now, unless they come to me,

I will go wherever my work is appreciated and takes me. An actor always looks for a wider audience

It's the mafia in Hollywood trying to make a hit - and half the family think it's murder and the ther half thinks it's a movie
